- Tubby had struck up a friendship in hospital with Mrs Fry's wounded gardener. Throughout the war, Mrs Fry posted large quantities of parcels to Talbot House (e.g. in Jan. 1918, cocoa for nearly 1,000 men and loads of woollies). Tubby also visited her when on leave in England.
